“Under the bill, those companies must provide employees in Oregon, starting on July 18, with written estimates of their work schedules seven days in advance, with the required scheduling notice increased to two weeks beginning in July 2020.

“Workers also would be entitled to a break of at least 10 hours between work shifts from one day to the next, and to receive extra pay if they agreed to a shorter rest interval - typically between closing hours at night and opening hours the next morning.

“Moreover, the bill protects employees from workplace retaliation for merely expressing a scheduling preference to their bosses.”

I just meant, now that’s basically moved it to the mainstream. 

I suppose it’s a misnomer to call it mpreg though, because as Oscar points out, these guys are freaking aliens, it’s very small-minded of us to assume that they’d have a gender binary. Who among us has really written the truly-alien-SW fic with proper alien genders???

spent saturday night in rochester with my bestie; we had a fancy Grownups Night Out and went to a fancy restaurant and then came back and had a fire in the fire place and drank champagne and ate Godiva truffles. it was truly lovely. her children are old enough now that i can understand both of them easily when they talk, and they’re entertaining little munchkins, so that was fun. 

we all got dolled up. i think my friend’s husband maybe will be able to talk my dude into buying himself better dolled-up clothes. i know dude doesn’t care about clothes but i like to dress up. other-dude (there’s a whole running joke where my dude and my bf’s husband have the same extremely common name, and we keep joking about how to differentiate them, and saying Dude for the closer one and Other-Dude for the farther one, or My-dude and your-dude, etc) is something of a dandy sometimes, and likes to buy expensive accessories. He wore a bowler hat and a wool vest last night. maybe i can get my dude to buy a wool suit vest someday. he’s skeptical. 

i drank like, seven drinks, but in like, ten hours, so. i was weirdly hung-over this morning anyway, but i think it was that the food disagreed with me; bff had been sick in the night, and i got sick midmorning, then took a brief nap on the futon in the living room while her children played. i sometimes like to nap in a busy room where people aren’t being quiet; it’s reassuring, and if you’re groggy enough to sleep anyway, it can be restful. 

we made it back to buffalo in a little hiatus, and now it’s lake-effecting wildly outside, though more picturesquely than to any real accumulation. it’s a lovely winter day, really. 

i still feel a bit queasy but less than i did. 

while we were gone our thermostat got stuck again, so we came home to a house where the heat was set to 63 and the actual temperature was 50. this is worrying, since we’re going away for a week pretty soon…
