in politics news, I know my senator is Chuck Schumer and he’s actually kind of the main dude in the charge for this whole CIA report shebang. But I dropped my House of Representatives guy a line, because I guess they’re getting a say and I haven’t heard his name mentioned yet (what up, B-Hig, I’ve met you personally, you didn’t notice me, you lick your lips a lot and it’s creepy but not in any deliberate way).
I guess I could drop Chuck a line and let him know that I dig that he actually seems to have had the spine to say something, it’s literally his job to be the first one to speak up now, so he’d better keep doing that, and I’m there for him.
I guess I could give our junior Senator a prod too, she’s actually an alum of my high school and it’d be kind of sweet if she, you know, said something. (I waffle on whether I dig her or not; on paper she’s great, a mom and a youngish woman and a progressive, and she did manage a pretty great snippy comeback when someone slammed her for not announcing her pregnancy during some sensitive thing, and she was like bro, i’m forty and only at like six weeks, you don’t talk about that shit, that’s just not how women’s bodies work, you probably better study some biology for a minute. But in practice she’s kind of not stood up very strongly for some things and has said some kind of weaselly stuff, and i mean, most of that is basically what it is to be a politician, and how many junior senators really Stand Up Big their first term especially if they got kind of weirdly almost-appointed [she replaced Clinton, mid-term I think, when HRC got called up to be Sec of State] and also are youngish women??? There was some concrete thing, but I don’t remember it now.)
I haven’t managed phone calls, I’m using their website contact forms. I can’t do phone calls just now. I’ll try when I’m alone in the house. I almost made myself throw up the last time I had to make a phone call; my stomach is not in a condition to deal with that at the moment. (I just tried my first coffee in four days, it went okay but very slowly, I’m going to stop now. Half a demitasse cup!)
I also posted the His Problem Now worksheet to my Facebook, because i have over 600 pretty diverse friends on there, and only ever crosspost Instagram photos of baby pigs and my cat so at this point people aren’t blocking me for politics yet. I made that as nonpartisan as I could. Because HOLY FUCKING SHIT you guys.
