ok ok enough sewing. back to writing.
two tiny snippets from today, and then I’m off to finish the formatting on the next chapter of Can’t Go Home This Way, because I need to post that on-schedule. :)
1) Full Of Grace: He reached up with both hands and pulled the goggles off, then shook his hair out of his face and sat back, looking straight into the camera with his whole face. The lighting was decent, the camera in-focus. His eyes were a light but vibrant blue, with crinkles in the corners. “The only lies I’ve told have been for the purposes of hiding who I am. But I think the time’s come to stop messing around.”
He blinked, and smiled sadly. “That should be plenty of time for facial recognition software to do its thing,” he said. “I’ve kept my face off the screen for that reason. But there’s other footage out there of me. Go ahead, confirm the match. I’m the Winter Soldier, the real one. It’s been fun pretending, but I’m not the kind of person who really gets to have, you know, fun in his life.” He gave a little twitch of his eyebrows at the word fun, and his smile went bittersweet.
2) Three Worlds Travelers: Chime tried kind of hard not to let on that part of the bit that really did it for him about being with Moon was knowing that Moon could kill him without thinking twice. Even if Chime fought back, which he kind of knew how to do now, mostly thanks to Moon. He wouldn’t stand a chance— not just because Moon was bigger, and more powerful all the time. No, Moon was ruthless and intense and did not make mistakes in fighting.
And so sometimes, maybe, Chime kind of… maybe let himself think about what it would be like if Moon wanted to hurt him, just a little bit. Moon didn’t, of course, and part of it, Chime told himself, part of the charm of it was that he knew that, of course. Moon would never hurt him.
