Was doing some desultory plot-structure work in preparation for nanowrimo, to determine what else I have to research. (Researched dates corresponding to a possible time-frame for novel, and researched names extensively.)
Dave asked what the novel was about.
A little reluctantly, I gave him a vague overview of the tentative outline I have. Admittedly, it's not much. It's just a framework. But.
"It's really sappy," he said. "Much sappier than your usual."
Sigh. "Yes," I agreed.
I also realized that if I adhere as closely as I would like to to historical considerations, then there won't be any sex in the whole novel. I dunno, man... I can't make an attempt to write a romance novel without putting at least one sex scene in it. Bummer. This may not end up as marketable as I had thought.
