dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (bang.)

God I'm a bitch today. Am trying to take care of a few left-over items from the post-Christmas season-- trying to return a pair of jeans that were mis-labeled and are not, in fact, a size 14 at all to Lands' End, and trying to find out why three weeks later I still have heard nothing from Burpee about my seed order-- some of which had to be started this past weekend in order to be set out in time.
So. Yeah.
Lands' End's website wasted an hour of my life on bogus contact options, and I wound up sending them a very brief email that said that if they did not email me back I would probably never shop there again. Their website is AWFUL if you actually try to use it for communication purposes-- their Live Chat feature hung for twenty minutes, and then when I started to compose an email in their Contact Us form, the Live Chat feature's failure window actually overwrote the email so that it vanished entirely.
When I then tried again to email them, I got an inscrutable error: I think it possible my 100-word email was too long for their system. But of course, the error would not say that to me; it was something about a connection failure.

In short: Asshats.

Burpee never sent me a confirmation of the order, and when I emailed them to ask if they'd gotten it, sent me a snippy reply about how spam filters block the confirmation emails. "Funny," I said, "I get promotional emails twice weekly with ads in them from that exact same address and my spam filters don't block that. Also I checked, and your email wasn't in my spam filter, so definitively, you never sent it." To which their response was "Sometimes spam filters catch it", and then they said one item from my massive order is backordered so they're waiting for it.
Every other company I've dealt with lately has sent the rest of the order on ahead and sent the backordered item separately when it arrived, which was not always ideal but at least showed some consideration on their part. Even Bravissimo did that, and didn't charge me extra for the separate shipping even though they're in the UK and it ain't cheap. So I emailed Burpee today and said, a little snippily in my turn, that I'd happily give them the extra dollar so they could send my snow pea seed packet separately once it comes in, if it meant I could have the rest of the seeds IN TIME TO PLANT THEM.

Perhaps I am overly snippy; it's only been twenty-three days since I placed the tremendously huge order, and eleven since I last heard anything, even snippy bullshit, from them.

But this bullshit has just taken up about two hours of my day, and I am so deeply annoyed that I can't really focus enough to continue on today's intended project, which was writing. I've been doing laundry and dishes, but there's really only so much to wash. And I just somehow managed to take a big chunk out of one of my knuckles, which is nice and painful now. BAH.
