I have had this song stuck in my head for like… three days now? It’s weird, I go about my business, and I sing other songs and other songs get played on the speakers or whatever, I’ve been down in the film lab a lot and that’s a 24/7 Metallica zone, upstairs my coworker’s been on a Kraftwerk kick, whatever I’m bopping along, and then later I’m humming to myself
gave up on smokin’, two years ago, and i ain’t been drinkin’ for a month now or so…
IDK! It’s a sign, I think I gotta learn this one. It’s not even like it’s that relevant to my life– I mean, it’s about somebody whose nightlife carousing is mostly behind them kind of reflecting on that, it’s a cover of a song by some older country legend sort, Robert Earl Keen, this version’s not even on any album it’s a live recording from some performance or other, and it’s not like it’s thematically resonant with any of the stories I’m working on at the moment either. It’s just. Real stuck in my head.
I present it, here, to you, as not-an-earworm, but as whatever is going on here.
