Suji Kim's .plan file, from 1999

dragonlady7I was looking through my old files and I found this.
Suji Kim lived on my hall freshman year. She was a year older, a very pretty Korean girl, born in Korea but raised in the U.S. She constantly struggled with her identity-- did she want to hang out with the Koreans, a powerful clique? Did she want to hang out with the Christians, another clique? Or did she want to hang out with the crew team, another solid group? Some of the cliques weren't forgiving of their members hanging out in other groups.
Her early time at UR predated Instant Messenger and ICQ, which became popular only when I was a freshman and sophomore. So instead of IM profiles, she and her friends used their .plan files on Pine, the Telnet mail client. (Most of you probably don't even know what that is.)
In her .plan file, she put a list of the 100 things she was looking for in a boyfriend. She was, as I said, quite pretty-- beautiful, even-- and had a lot of suitors.
Anyhow, here follows the list, and as I found it I was struck by how cute it was. So, I post it here for your amusement and reflection. Remember Pine, anyone?
