take stuff from work!

dragonlady7yesterday dave and i went on a mission of espionage and, uh, stuff.
We went to his place of work in search of an IDE CD-ROM so we could actually boot the new server. We didn't have one.
So, we went into the supply closet and borrowed one. In the process I borrowed an unused old-fashioned iMac keyboard, bondai blue, because I thought it was cute. :D So, it's my new travel keyboard. It's much smaller and lighter than the Apple Pro keyboard, and the keys offer a little bit more resistance. I kinda like it even though it's missing some keys-- to make it smaller, they took out a bunch. So it's more like a laptop keyboard.
Honestly, though, I don't use the keys that aren't there, so I'll be fine, I bet.
:D Most importantly, it doesn't show the dirt quite so easily.
Talked to my friend Abbie on IM today. I think I'm going to give her my frogs when next I see her. I like the little guys, but I don't think they like me. She loves frogs and frogs do very well with her. I think she only has one at the moment, so it might like the company.
I want to get a fish instead-- they don't need live prey, and are more active and fun to watch during the day, when I'm awake.
She's getting her Master's in Art Education (Secondary), so I'm a little jealous... I wanted to go to grad school but never figured out what in, and I still don't know. I quite fancy being a dr. of something, but I need a clearly-defined field of specialty and some kind of game plan first. *sigh*
Maybe I can work on it part time once my home business takes off and I relocate to my chic little house in a cheap chic district of Buffalo. That'll be my new daydream at work.
(I've got a whole list of things I want the new house to have. A roomy kitchen, a dishwasher, laundry facilities (don't look at me like that; I had all those in my house in Rochester for less than $250 a person.) a porch or balcony or even a yard, a driveway (SOME kind of off-street parking!) (had those too, btw), and some space I can use as a dedicated office so no more of this setting up the computer on coffee tables at my whim and wondering where I left my stuff.
My ankle is healing decently, which is good. I was worried it would give trouble. But I iced it pretty thoroughly during the first 24 hours, and have kept it elevated, and wrapped when it wasn't elevated, so it's actually feeling better than the other ankle (which has taken a beating while i favored the injured one).
I took Dave out last night, for hamburgers and beer. To make up for being so cranky on Friday, and because he's bought our meals out the last three times I think. (Pizza for delivery, Chinese takeout, and another pizza he brought home on Friday night because I was hurt and resigned to just lying in bed. Hmm, that's a lot of times he bought and I didn't pay. So...)
I bought him bagels this morning too. I had an Ali Baba, which I've never encountered before. Hm... Chocolate chips, walnuts, and raisins sparingly sprinkled through a bagel. It was delicious. :D Made me happy. Then I took a nap.
Naps on rainy Sundays restore your faith in humanity. I just let go of all the stuff I had planned to do, and lay there, and dozed, and listened to the beeps as Dave worked on building the kernel on the server, and breathed deeply, and wiggled my toes, and dozed in my papasan chair, first on one side, then on the other.
Now I'm slowly working on my personal and professional website. Made a bunch of pages, now have to do the CSS to position the content etc and include the navigation. No navigation makes a website tricky!!
So, that's what I'm up to.
Dave had Gentoo Linux all installed on the server but it's not booting without the boot disk. :/ So, we don't know what's wrong. Bummer...
