A writer of copy, Kat.
The person who writes the copy in your ad, on your website, in your press release.

the person who writes the copy for your website? In the "biz" that's generally called copywriting, i.e. the one who writes copy. I understand the word's not in the dictionary, but I figured it was pretty intuitive. Much of it is focused on search engine optimization so a degree of technical expertise is required. I'm hoping my experience as a tech writer will look good enough on my resume to entice people into believing i'm better at that stuff.

what the heck does "flak" mean when it's not antiaircraft fire?

I really don't know where "flak" came from. Given this is the newspaper industry, it's probably an abbreviation. We call paragraphs "grafs" and the first sentence a "led" and abbreviate just about everything else, but I don't know what it could be. Perhaps it just means they're worthless, which is often the case.
