I should start taking smoke breaks. It is nice to go outside, even if it isn't a pleasant temperature. it's not too bad...
I'm eating just vegetables for lunch. Yowza. Wonderful. I sent them with Dave too, but as a side dish, and with some Ranch dressing to dip them in.
Oh well. I'm going to be skinny. Someday.
My hard drive died last night. Officially. It took Windows an hour to start up. So I downloaded the drive manufacturer's diagnostic and repair tools, and ran them.
It couldn't do a low-level format. It couldn't even run a test. I got a six-digit error code... which means death, apparently. So I have to e-mail Maxtor the text file the test wrote to my floppy disk, and maybe they'll give me a new drive! That would be cool. I don't need it, but I'd really like one. Just because then I'd have the separate disk Photoshop recommends, etc... And when the time comes, i can give my baby sister a computer with a decent amount of storage on it. *shrug* whatever. I'll try.
Well, on the Mac front, it looks like they're releasing Panther in September or so. The new iMacs will probably be out in about 3 months, going by the unofficial rumors sites.
So...
I should wait. I should wait as long as possible.
The computer I want comes out to $2100 with all the features I want. The software I want will probably tack a minimum $400 onto that. Bottom line, I can't afford it.
I'll probably get about $1500 trade-in on my computer from my mom. A couple hundred bucks I could maybe get as a birthday present. But even that's pushing my luck. (Hmm, on a side note, I ought to make a wish list for my birthday. It's not until the end of the summer, but it's summer now... Maybe I could get some of the crap I can't afford as loot. That'd be nice.)
Sigh.
So I should wait. If the new Imacs come out at the beginning of November, I could get an old one for cheap, right? I hope.
I have to give Ann my old computer in late August.
So I'd have to do without a computer for about a month.
I could probably do it. I'm on a computer all day as it is, and it might do me good not to have one.
On the other hand..
I WANT THE SHINY THING NOW!!! NOW NOW NOW!!!

I hate waiting. Waiting is bad for you. I keep thinking about what I'll do once I have my new computer. Where I'll set it up, what I'll do, how often I'll move it, how I'll arrange things. Pleasant daydreams...
