dragonlady7Yes indeedy, as I mentioned in my comment to Darius, Dave and I are working on a new, awesome website. We spent all of Saturday afternoon designing it with funky chalk on an old chalkboard, followed by extensive annotation on little pieces of paper with a Sharpie. There will be a database. There will be journals. There will be articles. There will be content galore. There will be database entries for keywords and comments, people, projects, music, images, photoessays, and more. There will be archived content. There will be auto-updates. There will be beauty, all around. It will be done in XML, on Zope, with SQLite.
It will still be as slow as ever, because we have slow upload speeds and a slow server. But at least it will be worth the wait.
It will also be a joint project, with possibly more people involved.
It will be awesome.
It will be called Inscrutable Toaster, because neither of us is very good at coming up with names and I've been dying to call something Inscrutable Toaster since I came up with it a year and a half ago (more?). I don't know why.
But it will be awesome, and will put to use all the rad stuff Dave and I have learned at our respective jobs, most of which we have not been able to use.
So, that's my teaser just now. And, for the record, there are plans to make the journal section of the new website automatically update LiveJournal. Rock on!! I hate when people get blogs and drop off Livejournal; I don't have time to read every single webpage my friends use!! Though, maybe I hsould just break down and make a tabs subset in Safari. Hmm... maybe. Anyway, updating livejournal is better if it can be done. So we'll work on it.
In other news, I'm on antibiotics so I don't get Lyme disease, and will have a general physical at the end of July. I will be walking home from work, not to it, so I can shower any ticks off me instead of sitting at work wondering how many I picked up.
Took some gorgeous pictures of the sunset last night from my fire escape; will post those sometime.
Have convinced my coworker to let me launch the web site very soon. So, that'll be up soon. Yay!
Am working on help documentation again. Oh well... at least it makes the managers happy. Pays the bills.
Isn't too bad; it's a program created by a friendly programmer. Must have him over sometime for drinks; funny little Russian boy.
Going now, to do work. Typing inscrutably short sentences b/c screen takes so long to catch up. Ah well.
