May. 1st, 2003 11:29 am*phew* the boss looked at the website this morning and was like hey, it finally looks like I wanted it to. Well done. He started asking about minor details and I said not to worry, it's all still slightly rough-draft-- I'll update the capitalization and punctuation and actual copy a bit, and then forward you the URL and you can tell me what else needs changing. Good, he said, and moved off, pleased.
My coworker came in and looked at the site for really the first time. "The text on the front page is a little rough," I said. "I was filling space. I need a graphic, and I need some better things to put in the list there." What did she have to say?
"You should capitalize after bullet points. You never capitalize after bullet points. You make this kind of mistake all the time; it creeps in all your writing. You really shouldn't do that kind of thing."
That's all.
Well, fuck you too; I've only spent two months on the javascript and formatting so that I could have my fucking rough-draft bullet points criticized.
Maybe it's the time of the month but I just found that somewhat upsetting. The First Time my semi-manager takes the time to look at what I've been doing and she totally ignores my "I need to update the copy; it's filler" protests to question my ability to write competently in the first place.
C'est la vie.
