Sep. 28th, 2002 12:49 pmThe drivers don't work.
Not the first set I downloaded.
Not the second set I downloaded when the first set didn't work.
Nothing.
At least WinZip works (I had to download that too, when the second set were zipped and some genius using this computer had set Microsoft Word as the default application to open files with the extension .zip. Let's just say that a zip file makes really ... abstract ... reading).
The second set just... won't open. I click on the file, and the computer makes its "opening program" noise, and then nothing happens... ever.
The first one worked, and I installed the drivers, and then... the scanner just didn't work. And the drivers couldn't be uninstalled, because they were corrupted. It had installed them fine but they were just stuck there. RGH.
I'm trying to download the two corrupted sections. That'll be a couple of hours, though, and I just don't want to sit here any longer. This is also our only phone line.
I hate HP so much.
I also learned that if you e-mail their 'contact us' link, if you use any bad words even once it autoresponds with a request to make your language more professional.
This presents me a challenge. How can I tell them how I feel without triggering their autoresponse screening?
"I politely request that you engage in intimate relations with a donkey, that you might experience some of my pain and frustration in this matter." They can't have thought of every word.

Too bad about the job fair, but hurrah hurrah!! You're home for a little while! That means I might be able to see you!!!! Let's get together.
My number is 347-2082. I'm not telling the area code, since you know it and I'm assuming all you creeps out there reading this won't. Besides, I'm moving to Albany in three weeks, so it won't be my number soon.
Anyway, call me. I tried calling you and heard that you'd been routed early to sit on a hard pew somewhere. Actually, your mom just said, "She's at church. She'll be back any minute."
But since your journal said you were up very very late, I assumed you had to be routed out of bed. :)
'm free for together-ness any Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and Wednesday afternoons...or right now...get the point? :)
Kathleen

I still haven't figured out what to do. What do you want to do? I'm planning to be as dutifully busy as if I were in fact constructively employed (but i'm earning $15 a day. Hm. Not so good, is it.) but I doubt that'll last.
Hm... There are no movies out I want to see. And no particular sales I need to go to. Perhaps we could go eat somewhere but there isn't anyplace in particular I'd have in mind.
At least, this time, there will be no blizzard (knock on wood) forcing me to perform heroics to get myself home at all. Sheesh.
