Jun. 10th, 2002 12:09 amok, only time for a quick update-- under pressure to get off the line, power was just out two hours, etc., have many things to say but must state just now-- I HAVE TREE FROGS!!
Two native gray tree frogs, 'rescued' from a swimming pool cover (pool not yet chlorinated for season, thus safe, but soon to be chlorinated+opened, thus not stable habitat for breeding local natives) by me and Abbie. We bagged four, from one in-ground pool in Johnsonville.
Gray tree frogs are native to the entire East Coast-- in fact, the eastern half of north america.
Ever lie in bed awake on an early summer night, with the windows open, and hear this ceaseless chirping?
Not crickets. Mating gray tree frogs.
Yeppers. Loud little batards.
They also make a noise like a squeaking bedframe.
Ab-fab assures me that they calm down once they're used to being inside.
They're so cute! They're like chameleons, to an extent-- they can change from light to dark depending on surroundings, but they have stripey-ness that stays all the time. I wish I could upload pictures but i can't at the moment-- if you ask me, I'll email you one!
So I have to go buy crickets to feed them. I've been catching moths for them so far, but that'll only work for so long.
Oops! I was supposed to be offline already!
bye.
