me and dw just watched from hell-- jack the ripper movie w/ johnny depp, heather graham...
what a fuck of an ending, but it was good.
incredible photography. i mean, the visuals were dynamite. cuts, colors, fadeouts. beautiful. amazing.
visually, the movie was beautifully shot.
the writing was solid.
wonderful use of johnny depp's drugged-out half-shut gaze, and heather graham's freakishly wide-set eyes...
imagery of eyes-- mouth, fading to eyes... coins on eyes... disturbing beauty. hallucinogenic time-lapse scenes, still images and moving sound effects...
i thoroughly enjoyed the movie, as did dw [it's really hard for me to do this nickname thing. but i guess it's the right thing to do. man, journal weirdness].
it was a bit of a problem that one of the actors appeared as well in lord of the rings... somewhat of a hazard of the profession, i imagine... but at a crucial moment, I gasped out "no, Bilbo, no!" which rather impeded the mood.
bummed; i wanted to go to Duff's tonight for the Best Buffalo Wings In The World, but we were gonna go with the Jersey Girl, and she couldn't make it tonight. Maybe tomorrow night... we can't go without her.
