dragonlady7so i got bored waiting for poll answers, and there were more answers in favor of treigylgweith, so i created a shared journal called treigylgweith. That's the username.
i like that name best because it's the most whimsical.
The other name beside it (on my journal, it's 'bridie the penguin queen') is 'the living room'. Because it's the living room of my house, where everyone can gather to have conversations.
but i can't figure out yet how to add people to it! I'm working on that.
So, anyone who wants in, post a reply to this, and I'll add the name you tell me to. Once I manage to make the command console work.
non-lj users, i'm afraid you can't create a new post as an anonymous user. i think you can post comments on existing posts; i'll try to make sure the security levels are adjusted properly for that. So you can participate in conversations (i hope! i'll make it so you can.) but you can't start them.
if you want an lj-account post a comment too, and i'll send you a code so you can make one. even if you don't want one for anything else; you could just use it for the shared journal. it's free, it's fun, it's easy, you're under no obligation to use it often, there are no limits on how frequently you can use it, and they'll never delete your stuff unless you tell them to. and you can make it so that either nobody can see your own posts, or only those you define as friends can. (the problem is that you can't make it so only some anonymous users can see it. *shrug*). If you pay for an account ($2/mo.) you get a couple more features, yadda yadda, but it's really not necessary. I like making polls and the fast servers that paidmembers are logged in onto are a little more reliable so you don't get page timeouts as often. But in general, a free account is perfectly fine, and then you could load your own posts into the living room.
At some point I'm going to figure out how to embed the journal into a webpage-- once i've set up a webpage where the house is. So you won't even see livejournal.com when you view the living room. NOTE: YOU DON'T NEED A LIVEJOURNAL ACCOUNT TO GET YOUR MATERIAL INTO THE ONLINE HOUSE. I'm not doing the bedrooms etc. through lj; those will be separate html documents. Everyone can have a page or a directory or whatever; either send me specifications as for what you want, or e-mail me your already-made html documents. Send me pictures or whatever. Tell me what color carpet you want in your bedroom. Let me know what you want to put in the living room.
If anyone can find a picture of a fireplace, I want to put that one into the living room, becauseeggplantia5 and I have decided the house needs one. Ditto for a hot tub.
If you already have a website, I suppose I could just link to that as your bedroom, but it'd be great if you could link back to the site. Once I have one, of course. Either that or i'll have to get revenge-of-the-frames on your ass. Don't make me do that; I don't understand frames very well.
i'm constantly confused as to who i'm logged in under now. too many accounts active on this computer. (non-users, it's really confusing because you log in on an internet form, but you also have a separate client in which you can compose posts, and that's entirely independent of who you're logged in as, and the login can either be temporary, which means it's only for the window that's just open now, or permanent, which means it doesn't expire and you're logged in until you manually log out, in any windows you open... and so i'm getting awfully lost as to whether i'm really logged in at the window with the command console where i can execute administrative commands on the shared journal, like who can post. so i haven't managed to post yet.

Date: 2002-02-28 01:10 pm (UTC)Four futons surround the center table. A Go board and stones sit on one corner, and an open deck of cards sits on the opposite corner. Other chairs and tables are scattered around the room. A half-built model racecar sits on one table, waiting for the paint to dry.
The room is filled with toys, books, and games that have no connection to each other. It seems to be the work of a crazy mind, having such a strange assortment of things in this room -- but it seems like the perfect place to find something new to try. It is the perfect place to learn about yourself, and find interests that you never knew you had.
