Surviving black friday. lunch break, 2:30 pm. Been here since 6:45.

Could really still use a nap.

Every year we declare the Friday after Thanksgiving to be Black Metal Friday in the back office, in the online department, and my deskmate DJs a black metal set. This morning we listened to Mayhem’s first album, then Darkthrone’s Transilvanian Hunger, and then he put on some Emperor but it got switched off to answer a phone call and stayed turned off.

Meanwhile between ringing up invoices I picked at the end of Chapter 9 and I’m actually starting to think i might finish the damn thing, which is kind of– I mean… there’ll be loose ends, which may or may not get wound up, and I certainly don’t plan to get into the entire justification for a particular villain’s actions, but if I leave it as “WTF is he doing” “We just don’t know but we beat him”, I feel like that’s a reasonable stopping point. I have a justification, and it’s definitely not that he’s suddenly secretly not a bad guy, but it’s too much to get into within the scope of this already-epic story. So I feel like that’s not a cop-out? I hope it’s not a cop-out. Because I don’t know how else to work it out.

These leftover mashed potatoes are kind of… dense. Dude’s mom has gotten fond of making Amazing Mashed Potatoes from various extravagant recipes. This one involves Spanish goat cheese. It’s incredibly high in calories. I’m basically eating cheese with some potatoes for loft. I’m not complaining, but I’m thinking the half-cup serving size I brought in my lunchbox was possibly enough for two meals.
