I have got to sit me down and read that bit and see if I can’t work something great out of it.
You know, back when I was in MCU stuff, I almost wrote a whole A/U trying to warp Steve and Bucky into Cuchulainn and Ferdiad. I was so into it. I didn’t write any notes on it but I spent a fuckload of time working out how it would go.
In fact I wrote, and may have posted but may not have, a ficlet where Bucky had half-memorized the Lady Gregory translation reading it out loud to Steve when Steve was sick, and recounts it for some Avengers at one point when they’re stuck waiting for an extraction. Don’t know if I ever did post it, though.
I haven’t managed to actually get through Gods and Fighting Men since about 1996 though so that’s step 1, LOL.
