For @kimya-gee, I just went and looked up tiny houses on wheels, because I’ve kind of always wanted one too. I mean, a normal camper would be okay, but a vardo would be even cooler. (If I had one, I could move my setup as often as I wanted, which would be cool! I’d sleep by the turkeys at this time of year to keep the coyotes off, I wouldn’t mind that at all, they’re quiet at night and they don’t smell that bad!)
Vardos are the traditionally horse-drawn wagons long favored by Roma people, and researching them is fun but you do encounter the word g*psy a lot, for I suppose understandable reasons, but you do have to be advised.
I found a great start on someone’s SCA page, a collection of links to projects by people who’ve built their own as well as commercial manufacturers.
Farmsister has a pop-up camper which is almost acceptable, but I’d totally want something cuter than that. (It’s the classic canvas-top design where the beds slide out into wings after you’ve towed the thing into position.)
Almost all the other links I’ve turned up are actually already on that first page I looked at.
I used to really want an Airstream trailer, and had this wistful idea of doing travel writing to support myself, but supporting myself by any kind of writing is a kind of distant dream anyway.
I like the antiquey-ornate aesthetic better than midcentury modern anyway! I’ve never been into minimalism. I like to look at it, but I couldn’t live in it.
