choos chopping
Jun. 22nd, 2011 08:01 amThe only thing I still needed for the wedding this weekend was shoes. So I looked up and discovered that there's a DSW Shoe on my way home from carpooling to work with Z. I went in with the idea that I needed non-stiletto silver glitter shoes.
Of course I bought stilettos.
Platform stilettos.
These fuckers have a four-inch heel. I'm six feet tall, more or less. But it came down to them vs. a slightly more practical pair-- there were no non-stilettos-- and I realized the practical ones were uncomfortable too and I'd have to take them off after a few hours. And I thought, why get boring silver sandals that are uncomfortable, if I could get wildly impractical silver sandals that were uncomfortable, and be in precisely the same position?
So I paid about $40 on clearance for a wildly impractical pair of silver glitter platform stilettos, and these things are insane. How insane? Here's a picture:
My favorite part is how suspicious Chita looks. They're taller than she is.
I also trimmed my hair in the sink but I think I did a poor job of it. I need to coerce a hairdresser teammate of mine into fixing it, but that probably won't happen this week. It's fine, at least I chopped off some of the tangle-prone broken ends. I took off about an inch.
On Thursday a teammate volunteered to go get a manicure with me, which is what I was hoping would happen when I posted the question on Facebook. Huzzah for sweet little Toots McGee, who is the most adorable person in the world. I wanted an excuse to hang out with a teammate anyway, since I've been shamelessly skipping derby practice for two weeks now.
Other than that I now just have to add a button to the shrug I made and dyed (if I don't succeed, I can always just pin it shut with a brooch), and go grocery shopping. I'm going out Friday noon to hang out with the bride and help with last-minute stuff. I told her I'd take care of breakfast-- a large number of people are just going to crash at her house for the duration, so Z and I are bringing a cooler full of fruit, omelet fixings, a big coffee maker, champagne, orange and peach juices (Bellinis, mmm!), etc.
Today I'm pleased because I also scored a pair of work-friendly Born maryjanes for $40, which I am going to wear to work today. Na-ha!
