Ugh and I’m just like. Watching the DDOS shit take down random bits of the Internet. I’m trying to list stuff on Etsy for work and it’s been taken down too. I keep making jokes with my dude about the dang Russian hackers but I feel like I gotta do karmic penance every time. I have no quarrel with the people of Russia! I dislike their government’s active pursuit of internet sabotage against other nations! But I have no desire to see a war with Russia. If it is even Russian hackers. But like. I feel like I can’t even laugh at the meme. Which is surely unrelated to whatever Tumblr’s current fuckery is. But my angst about the internet is not specific. Also this current fuckery prompted my coworker to show me the interview with Joe Biden about a time of our choosing and uh. Uh?
Oh is that why twitter went down? DDOS? HUH.
Eastern US and now Europe. Twitter, tumblr, etsy, new york times, Pinterest, Zillow, Amazon, a list of big websites as long as your arm are all down intermittently because the upstream DNS servers are under sustained and distributed attack. One wave this morning just as Eastern Time was starting work, another started just as Eastern Time came back from lunch breaks. It’s hard not to feel super weirded out as the shit i need for work keeps timing out or failing to come up. dude has an electronic door lock at work that’s offline. Fortunately someone was inside to let everyone else in, and you can get out.
