ha it turns out this whole time (two years) my auto insurance wasn’t really strictly… legal?… because one of the vehicles on my policy belongs solely to a man who isn’t legally married to me and because of the terms of my credit union, only I’m eligible for the policy, so either he’d have to get the title changed to reflect that I’m a co-owner, or he’d have to marry me. and since we didn’t send them an updated title with my name on it too, they didn’t cancel the policy but somehow also didn’t… I don’t know… fix it?… I assume it’s in effect but nobody really knows. SWEET. It’s good that the claim I’m about to make (windshield) is for the car I own.

But the way the rep answered my question was that “once you’re married it’s all fine” and I’m like… hokay… if I haven’t married him yet what makes you think that’s like, imminent, given that the policy was purchased like five years ago and we weren’t married then, and like. I mean. You don’t know my life.

But anyway. They didn’t have a problem with this when I first purchased the insurance! They only noticed it then. ANd like. I just. I don’t know.

We’re getting rid of that car and then we’re getting insurance a different way I think. I just. Come on. I’ve been a customer of this credit union since I was 17. And now when my own mother doesn’t give me shit about this they’re hassling me to get married.

It just feels suuuuuper weird thanks guys!

Why do we base stuff off being married? It doesn’t really make sense anymore in our current culture, and yet. There it is. I get how you can’t just have randos on your insurance but like. Come on. You can totally marry a rando. Whose business is it to determine what constitutes a soulmate and what constitutes a rando? And why do we give certain criteria weight and not others?

I had a whole rant to myself in the car ride home (I am in A Mood, this is, I don’t know) about the Church too and man I hope my dad doesn’t bring anything up next time I’m home, if he makes one more crack about going to church I am going to let him have it about how secular politics have irredeemably pillaged my connection to the divine through any kind of organized religion. I am much less likely to experience the Holy Spirit while sitting in a large room trying to ignore a man telling me my life and my friends’ lives are anathema than I am, say, while having the kind of sex I like to have, so like. I mean. That’s my fifteen cents there.
