like, I know we like to pretend we’re all Above Sinful Technology out in the rural parts
but let me tell you what, nobody is quicker or happier to adopt remote communication tech than people who live 200 miles from the ass end of anything
farmers were the FIRST people I ever saw really using tablets and smartphones on an always-in-hand basis. The further you go from civilization, the better the wifi routers get in little cafes. Tech is so important to survival in the rural US it’s always kind of shocking to me to see people surprised at things like farmers snapchatting
but then again nobody will ever EVER admit to being dependent on technology bc of the cultural stigma attached to tech…which in turn contributes to rural people being stereotyped as backwards heathens who will all be eliminated in good time with their Corn Jokes
it’s weird
tech is so fucking immediately wonderful if you’re in the middle of nowhere
