My progress on this chapter has come to kind of a screeching halt what with the farming and all but this is a chunk that I ended the current progress with, and I’m thinking I may have to rework this, and it’ll get discarded. Maybe, maybe it’s just as well because it’s kind of too flippant anyway, but I was really amused by it anyway and here it is out of context.
Bolt stared after the departing Pava in dismay. “She’s,” he said. He glanced over at Poe, but Poe was looking at Finn, so he looked at Kes. “She’s gonna kick the shit out of me, huh?”
Kes shrugged. “Pilots,” he said. “There’s always drama.” He tilted his head for humorous effect, as if watching her go, though she was already out of the room. “I’d let her, if I were you.”
“Dad,” Poe said, scandalized, “don’t– she could be my daughter!”
Kes raised both eyebrows. “Kid, no way were you that precocious. You were right square in your awkward phase when she was born, I can tell you that right now. Relax, I won’t hit on your friends.”
