4) If you went to college, does your major match your career/current job?
I majored in English. I change numbers to other numbers on the Internet for approximately minimum wage. I have no idea.
8) When did your family acquire a second TV?
Oh this is a good one, because it makes me sound so much older than I am. My family acquired a second TV in approximately 1985 when my visiting grandmother was horrified to realize that we only had a black and white set. She bought us a color TV and my parents moved the black and white set to their bedroom, where years later I remember my sisters watching CW teen romance dramas on it.
What makes this extra amusing is that my mother comes from a middle-class family that had one of the very early color TV sets and she remembers watching JFK’s funeral in color on it.
For further reference, though, I do not currently own a TV set. We had one in the house I lived in when I was in college, but I never used it, so when I moved out, I didn’t get another one, and Dude’s set had broken before I moved in with him, so we just… never did. Now you can watch TV on your computer so it’s not nearly as weird as it was in 2002, believe me. Back then people used to get all defensive, like I was some kind of morally-superior Intellectual type, when I said I didn’t have a TV. Now people are like oh same but then expect me to know what various reality shows are, and I just don’t.
20) Do you feel like an adult?
I’m sort of resigned to the fact that nobody is going to come along and fix things or make me stop doing whatever stupid thing I’m doing, but I’m not saying I’m any good at it.
On my roller derby team a couple of my teammates used to say things about putting on your big girl panties and dealing with it, whatever “it” was, so I own a pair of booty shorts across the ass of which I stenciled the phrase “big girl panties”, and there are some days when I wear them because I need the reminder.
