I might need to try that. For me, the whole point of Tumblr is that there’s people talking, about things I’m interested in, and I can somewhat have a conversation. It’s not ideal. I like the pictures, usually, so I don’t want to set them to never load. But it’s just. *so much* data. And I should cull who I follow and cut it down so I don’t see the same thing over and over, but the reason I see the same thing so often is that I follow people who are interested in things, and I don’t– it’s a dilemma. Mostly what I’ve started doing is that once I’ve seen the same post twice or three times I PostBlock it, but I know I miss commentary.
It’s just *so much* data. And of that, so much of it is just the same content over and over. And I just can’t see a way to cut that down. I don’t want to never see reblogs, because that’s 99% of the conversation. I just- what it boils down to is that this is not the ideal site for me but it’s the only place the action is happening, and I need that. I need there to be people talking.

Not just you, but also, the tumblr data usage is ginormous compared to what even a pic spam post takes. To the point where on a lot of my devices, tumblr is set to wifi only access.
That’s really what it comes down to. It’s a lot of redundant content, but it’s also a random data hog. For no reason– I can be looking through, hell, pages of just huge images, and they load, and that’s fine. I can go to YouTube and watch whole fucking movies. And it’s still less data than scrolling down a couple screenfuls of this site, half of which are textposts, with all the ads blocked. It just takes so much data, and I’m not getting any return on it. I could honestly sit and watch entire porn movies with the ads not blocked and be burning through less data. (NB that is what my dude assumes I’m doing when he looks at our usage logs. He’s like, man whatever you want, and I’m like, I swear it’s not porn, and he’s like, you do you. Which is healthy and good, but. Not what’s happening.)
Anyway. I didn’t mean to sound like a curmudgeon last night. The point of this site, for me, is what all of y’all have to say. And I like seeing who reblogs what. It’s just. Oh my god. I only get to hit refresh once out in the yurt, that’s just how it is. Please tag me in anything you think I really ought to see, and I apologize in advance if you post something really important that happened to you and I just don’t see it.
