If you want to, you can go to the website for your local CITY CLERK’S OFFICE and find a SAMPLE BALLOT for upcoming LOCAL PRIMARY ELECTIONS. There may be a choice of candidates for positions like Executive Councilor, Sheriff, County Attorney, State Senator, State Representative (for your District,) or Governor.
Some of these people will make important decisions that impact your life in an immediate way.
You can check in on your town council, too. Issues like development, transit infrastructure, urban walkability, gentrification, and water management will be important in the coming years. Local politicians may have less accountabiity as old media outlets collapse.
