I’m feeling like I’m not even a real writer anymore with no updates like ever and nothing to post and I don’t even ugh whatever. Someone else rewrite chapter six for me. *two year old niece’s Melodramatic voice with her weird long-A accent she hasn’t outgrown yet* “I CAHN’T DO IT”

Here is a chunk from the next bit of the Lost Kings story thing. Shara Bey’s father meets Kes Dameron.

Sento had to give Shara credit, the boy was striking. He was tall, broad-shouldered, clean-limbed, and really really pretty, with dark hooded eyes and a generous mouth, strong sharp features, big callused capable hands. He was well-bred too, soft-spoken and mannerly and competent; he’d clearly already discussed things with the crew working this dock, which spoke well for him because Sento could instantly tell it wasn’t a Fronteras crew.

Kes was nervous, Sento figured out finally; he kept his eyes down, said very little, and kept reacting to things before Sento had time to even notice them. Sento wasn’t used to making people nervous; he was almost always the one that got underestimated. But Kes was goddamn terrified of him, and Sento wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about that.

Well, considered logically, it was a good sign. Kes was nervous because he certainly understood that Shara valued Sento’s opinion over just about anything else. If Sento decided he didn’t like Kes, then Shara wasn’t likely to overrule him.

It wasn’t power Sento really wanted, though.

Well, he thought to himself, holding his daughter close as they walked together, Kes trailing behind carrying all their luggage without having been asked to do so, this was indirectly what he’d signed up for when he’d taken it upon himself to raise a little girl all by himself.

He hadn’t realized he’d been trying to reach any particular decisions until Kes sat down and Shara slid over toward him on the bench, and Kes’s face just lit quietly up from the inside at the attention. His mouth curled up despite itself into a shy little smile, and Sento thought, that boy would probably fling himself out an airlock if she asked him to.

It was terrible and wonderful all at once, and it struck Sento then with great clarity that a large part of his life’s purpose going forward was going to have to be preventing his daughter from telling this boy to do anything regrettable.
