waking up to listen to the rain: pleasant
staying awake to listen to the rain: not a great idea, it’s been an hour
upside: I noticed that the umbrella I had to cover the tono wasn’t big enough and was redirecting water onto my bed when it hadn’t been doing it very long yet so there’s that at least
downside: you know how much shit i have to do tomorrow and it’s almost 4 am
c’mon party people let’s go the fuck to sleep
That’ll be a neat trick. But. I’m glad it’s raining, it’s literally not possible to irrigate everything here that needs water to live, and the fall crops were about to be completely doomed, so every tenth of an inch is crucial. When I joked earlier about the farm manager dancing naked in the rain, it’s because the man has been working 12-18-hour days, and spending the vast majority of those hours working on irrigation. The infrastructure here is just predicated on it raining sometimes, because this is the Northeastern US and typically it rains here.
This is the driest summer here since 2002. And the creek they have the rights to pump water out of is starting to go dry. At least the wells are holding up. So far. (Water for the livestock comes out of the wells.)
