Of course now I want to write the new idea I have for chapter 5 instead of packing up my car and driving for five hours.
I don’t know why I don’t want to drive for five hours, I hardly ever get to spend any time alone in the car with my thoughts. (HA)
(A stupid hangup I have been having is that I don’t want to have Hux be a character or give him any actual lines because Fandom Is Doing It All Wrong by having him be in so many stories but… I need a character… who is highly-placed in the First Order military… and would be in a position of really high authority and would have a close working relationship with Kylo Ren (who I do have to use as a character after all because I bothered to have a whole parallel with Kes and Poe and Leia and formerly-Ben and I can’t just OC her another son)… and who might have some fairly opaque strategy going on so it would be good to have foreshadowed some strategic ability there… and it seems really stupid to invent an OC for that… so uh… I guess I have to include him? And why am I feeling so weird about that? But like. Everyone’s going to abandon me in anger because I’m Doing Fandom Wrong? I don’t know, brain, you’re not working very well here.)
Also, distractingly, a large portion of my brain is constantly screaming what the fuck because global politics sounds like a bad movie. Trump, who we all thought was a nightmare of a joke, is financially and politically entwined with Global Terrifying Boogieman Vladimir Putin, who has dedicated his cyber-security forces to collaborating with global hackers to interfere in the US elections??? and people care whether the first woman ever to be nominated as a Presidential candidate in the entirety of history genuinely carries hot sauce in her purse or just pretends to because of a(n important but still) pop song? and somehow it matters that Trump keeps talking about his dick? But he has been a puppet for The Russians ALL ALONG?
I COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP AND IF I DID I WOULD FIRE ME.
And it is part of a massive global oligarchist conspiracy to install fascist rulers worldwide and destroy all non-heterosexuals and erode any civil rights we’ve ever obtained, and force us all into crushing poverty except for the elite few who are controlling all the world’s wealth, and– like– for fucking real?
How am I even supposed to function? I live in a really badly-written reality.
I just really really really really wish the fantasy-reality I’m spending so much of my time in had not decided that The Villains Are Nazis was a useful shorthand, because I’m really tired of contemplating Fascism.
If Star Wars was supposed to be an allegorical discussion of Vietnam, why did Lucas make the Empire be Nazis? But I digress.
