I definitely first thought this was a real human child and those other kids were forcing a face shark head on her
HAHA it DOES look like that!!!
My first impression of the statue was similar! No, it’s just… a sort of weird art piece.
I mean, there’s an artist’s statement and everything. And apparently a facebook page. I dunno.
The children were enchanted by trying to climb her, though.
To get to her you cross a foot bridge whose sides are bedecked with bells zip-tied through the grate. When we arrived there was a young woman attempting to get her dog to sit next to the statue for a photo. The dog would not sit. I offered to take a photo of the woman with her dog, but she declined. Until today I was possibly the only person in Buffalo not to have posed for a photo with Shark Girl. I don’t have a copy of the photo I’m in, but I’m sure it exists.
