You can see them trying to do some gymnastics right there in their comment too. They literally say-
Intrusive thoughts about murder =/= thought crime
But Intrusive fantasy, Fantasy in general, and mundane thoughts DOES = thought crime
These people genuinely don’t know what Fantasy and Fiction are.
Fantasy =/= Premeditation
Making a plan that you intend to go through with IS NOT FANTASY. The Intent is the difference. Fiction and fantasy are not indicative of intent.
A fantasy about suicide (while still being suicidal ideation) does NOT indicate that an individual is going to take their life that night. (Which is why in the US, therapists can’t commit you to a psych ward for simply having suicidal ideation without intent)
Without Intent and Premeditation, murder is considered accidental, ie manslaughter. Making the punishment for it less severe.
An intrusive thought to jump off a cliff does not mean you have intent to actually jump off a cliff.
And the idea that “Thought Crime is Real” is LITERALLY a page out of the fascist handbook. And these people are playing right into self surveillance.
And the idea that you’re ONLY ever allowed to have “pure thoughts” is a far right Evangelical talking point. Meant to scare people in line. That your worth is somehow judged based on your “purity” your “virginity”, rather then your character and actions. (This ideology is a common grooming tactic.)
How long until they realize that being Gay, Trans, or otherwise Queer is/was ALSO considered a “thought crime”. A “fetish”. A “mental illness”. An “undesirable who should be castrated”. (Your picture was not posted)
