Iiiiii have a lot of ideas and plans for them, going forward.

I think Anoke is writing more of them being young together and clearly has a lot of ideas of how that should go, which I don’t plan to contradict, but– when i was first getting into the characters, laurelnose https://tmblr.co/Mq54LIcK9Ujftei-4qS_V9A had some darker takes on them, which I did like (he had an entire brainstormed ‘verse where Adda figured she’d inherited Roche like any of her father’s possessions), and while I don’t plan to go that way with it at all, it is a delicious little shadow underlying it.

I have been thinking about Adda lately, and how complicated and delicious a character she can be. Obviously she loved her uncle/father, but equally obviously he is the root of the extremely significant problems in her life, both her entire origin and everything after, and having given her to Radovid, who in my continuity has not treated her at all well. So, she’s clearly got a complex backstory there, and many layers of feelings about how all of it went down.

Roche is not really going to be allowed to cling to his idealized memory of Foltest unimpeded, not since he made the choice to survive and to try to clean up some of the mess. Temeria is a ravaged corpse, and it’s not entirely not Foltest’s fault. You can simultaneously love the man and understand that he was doing his best, and appreciate that he did a fuckload of damage to both his country and the people that he loved.

Adda, I don’t think has ever really had any illusions. She’s eaten a lot of livers; that’s a kind of augury, isn’t it? She knows things. She has always known her father was kind of a monster, but as kind of a monster herself, she never hated him for it.

Oh I saved this as a draft and then lost it because I didn’t know it would get filed under the date the ask was sent, which isn’t anywhere I can see, and not under the date when I started the draft, so I’ve resurrected it months later now! Let’s see what I was saying…

Well, yeah, I’m still working on this and it holds up, LOL, so let’s belatedly post this and see how long it takes me to catch up! (Your picture was not posted)
