I went on a big shopping expedition this weekend.

OK it wasn’t the usual kind. Dude got on a research kick, which is what he does– he does this for work, reads documentation to find solutions to things– and so in his personal life he likes to look up what the specifications are on things so that he can figure out what the differences are etc.

I’m getting a propane heater for the cabin– a vented one, as it happens a decorative one that looks like a woodstove, because BIL found a cute used one on Facebook Marketplace and bought it. Which is awesome.

But I need a thermostat, and a carbon monoxide and smoke detector, and also a fire extinguisher. And so we went to Lowe’s after several hours of online research, and bought The Best Thermostat For My Needs, and then The Best Fire Extinguisher Given My Parameters (including a bracket to mount it to the wall next to the exit door of course), and then The Best Smoke Alarm For Most People (the ten-year battery one, which speaks to tell you the nature of the alarm, which is great because then it’s not just beeping it’s telling you “there is a low battery” “there is smoke” or “carbon monoxide detected”, so you know whether it’s fucking malfunctioning or not), and then I also bought some Tide pens because I saw them in an endcap and know they’re good for getting stains out of things.

Listen, my dude is useful for stuff, and the fact that he had the model numbers written down and also the aisles where each item was located? chefkiss (Your picture was not posted)
