Ah, I’ll never forget the fics I read when trapped under a sleeping baby. I didn’t even have a smartphone when child 1 was born, I had to balance the computer and navigate one handed while she fed and if I sat down in a rush and couldn’t reach the computer there was NOTHING I COULD DO
Ha ha! Yes, that is very nearly the worst, I would imagine. As an auntie, it’s not so bad if that happens because it’s much less common. I’m one of those people who always Has to be Doing something, and it’s worse when I’m at my sister’s because there’s always So Much To Do, and so the increasingly-rare times when I’m trapped under Farm Baby are kind of precious. If you’re not an actual mom, you can kind of appreciate the zen of just sitting there a lot more. (Also if your boobs are not involved actively, it’s probably more relaxing. Mine, I’ve carried around all this time and their only functional use has been as pillows.)
She’s definitely working hard on making the transition from Baby to Kid, and while there had been talk of there being another one, my sister seems less than eager to embark on that magical journey, so I’m doing my best to not be misty-eyed about The End Of Baby Time. It’s so great that she can fall asleep without being held, except that I really liked holding her. LOL.
(No no, I’m looking forward to her being old enough to navigate the world on her own. The new (sharp! ow!) gravel on the driveway already means that if it’s warm she can go out in the yard by herself if she’s barefoot, because she won’t run in the driveway and hurt her feet, so she’s safe from maniac drivers. We still have to watch her like a hawk, but if she takes off running, she won’t go into the driveway. There’s a fence in-progress, so once that’s up we’ll give her back her shoes, LOL.)
