so I’ve heard of the concept of a capsule wardrobe before, and as someone who’s an inveterate hoarder, the thought gave me shivers.
I recently read an article about it, and i pondered it for several more seconds– yes, getting rid of the things I don’t like to wear is not a terrible idea, it would make it easier to put together outfits and such, sure–
and yet I came away more certain than ever, that the concept of a capsule wardrobe repels me utterly.
I guess it’s good to know things about oneself for certain, in this day and age. (Your picture was not posted)

Date: 2022-02-18 10:19 am (UTC)I think the idea of having a specific number of clothing items is very weird and I do not like. But I think I started the approach of "have a bunch of stuff that all mostly goes with each other so you don't have to think too hard when getting dressed" back in my late teens. In those days it was tshirts and jeans; these days it's leggings and dresses-with-pockets, but I still have some tshirts and jeans and also some skirts. And random casual shirts, and hoodies and so on. 90% of the time I still throw on a pair of leggings and the dress at one end of the hanging rail (I always hang newly-clean dresses at the other end), but I have options apart from that.
I have a pretty firm line on trousers/dresses/skirts must have pockets, and everything has to be machine washable, and I've fluctuated around sizes for most of the last ten years so I have a couple of storage boxes of clothes for things that don't currently fit but might again someday, and try to have only things that currently fit easily available.
