So I did that whole post about Cahir it’s like thousands of words long and I buried a link to the new Fit For Pearls chapter in the middle of it.

I really ought to post just the link too, and not make you all do homework before you can read it, LOL

Chapter 19, on AO3 https://archiveofourown.org/works/31289303/chapters/91195141, is not just summaries of three books, as told by Ciri and Geralt with the aid of some Vicovaran brandy.

It’s also from Morvran’s POV and is the long-promised Morvran Has A Pleasant Evening And Gets Snuggles From Someone He Cares About follow up to Morvran Gets A Hug in the previous chapter.

“That’s– I should have known that was your bard,” Morvran said, and then remembered, again, that he’d resolved not to talk. It was the damnable Vicovaran brandy.

“Do you know him?” Geralt asked.

“I spent a while in Novigrad,” Morvran said. “Hard to miss him.” He felt that he’d interrupted Ciri, felt like he was always interrupting her, felt like she must be angry with him. “Well so how did he tell the story, then?” he asked Ciri, trying in vain to salvage the rhythm she’d had with Geralt before.

“Well,” Ciri said, and she did smile then, though it was clearly at the memory of the bard’s antics and not for Morvran. He was just tipsy enough, though, that the flash of it made his heart give a funny little thump. What if she did smile at him like that, bright-eyed and fond– it twisted in his chest, the sudden feeling of wanting that, and he had a very sudden, very small epiphany about why so many people in stories did stupid things at the behest of people they wanted.

Oh. Oh, he– it wasn’t just that he’d been commanded to be loyal to her, it was her, he would do all sorts of stupid things in the possibly-vain hope that someday she’d look at him like that for him.
