Listen this fic is really good, and I’m not just saying that because I’m beta-reading it so I have already encountered the sex scenes (which are fucking transcendent). Yes it has some big warnings on it but those are largely there because they occur in canon, and they’re handled as sensitively as possible.

(yes, canonically in the Netflix series as well, Pavetta is 15 at the hedgehog tornado wedding. that’s confirmed in their timeline. giant red flag! but you can thank Sapkowski for that one, and here we are, as fans, to figure out what that means.)

And yeah it’s mpreg but this is handled beautifully: the sum total of How Does It Work is just “well, somehow, it just does” which is exactly the level of detail I personally want.

What’s the plot? Well it turns out a fifteen-year-old being pregnant isn’t particularly a great idea, and it looks like she won’t survive it, so, the only solution! is to have a Witcher carry the fetus to term! of course it is. get your popcorn and buckle in.

The tremendous (sensitively-handled, realistic) emotional fallout of this is what the writer is interested in, and so that is what the fic is about: what does that do? what does that mean? when you have a teenage girl afraid of her heritage, a man who’s been under a curse since he was a child finding his destiny and lying about it, and a Witcher with terrible fucking self-esteem but a great depth of smarts, and a gestating baby we’re all emotionally invested in tying them together via Destiny’s unsubtle hand??????

So anyway. It’s updating weekly (twice weekly?) and we’ve made it to the plot so like get your ass over there and please leave a nice comment we all need this in these trying times.
