Hee! Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked it particularly in light of how much I love your Hux. It’s lovely to be in the same fandom with you again!
It finally got me to go look over at your AO3 and I am delighted to see, by the way, that you have Oak and Willow up there, I will have you know that I have a bookmark in my bookmark bar labeled “marnie” that points to its old site, and I mourned, I really truly mourned, when the site went dead. It is still there, the bookmark, even though it hasn’t worked in some time, as a reminder to me about how great that story is.
That fic had such a profound effect on me. You know what stayed with me most vividly? The fact that in a world without daylight, dimly lit by stars, the Sindar had all come up with texture-and-contrast-based fashions. And once the Sun came up, to the Noldor they just looked like they were dressed in drab colors and didn’t understand beauty.
It completely changed how I thought about a lot of things. Of course you can’t see color in the dark. And I mean. I read that at least a decade ago. It was huge, for me, and I was delighted to discover that I could still find you online.
Words cannot convey how delighted I am to share a fandom with you again. I don’t engage in many, and neither do you, and we look for different things when selecting them. It’s like planets aligning, I think.
