Oh, I didn’t see this when it first showed up!
Yes, I firmly believe that humans are not at all meant for the horrible solitude of the nuclear family. My bestie is absolutely miserable as a mother because she’s so alone, and then society just heaps shit on her because how could she not be grateful for her two beautiful healthy intelligent children that she’s stuck raising 200 miles away from any family and her husband works 70+ hours a week and she can’t brush her hair or make real food or get enough sleep that she’s not a danger to herself or others. Ugh!
Children are such a joy when you have, you know, three or four adults per child, plus a variety of older and younger kids running around, and so the kids can get all the attention and energy they need to siphon off (they’re little energy vampires! but in a big enough group, it’s no big deal!), and nobody has to be stuck not able to do something basic like, IDK, go pee when she has to, because there’s no one to make sure the baby doesn’t set herself on fire in the two minutes that would take– that kind of thing! It’s just– our modern society has very efficiently come together to ensure that you can’t do that.
It’s almost a conspiracy to punish anybody who wants to follow their biological imperatives. Ugh!
