Heh, I agree with all this too. My enormous fic that I’m never going to write involves Hux and Leia (and their respective armies) getting rid of Snoke and then declaring a ceasefire while they sit down to try to figure out how to rule the territory they’ve already got in a way that minimizes the suffering of their populace….
I’d like to see them have a ceasefire and an exchange of ideas, so that eventually they could come up with some kind of compromise whereby the final product is a government big enough to make sure it’s citizens get fed, housed, and given access to public services including healthcare, and small enough so they don’t get drafted into the army at birth or rebrainwashed repeatedly to keep them there. Stranding Hux and Leia on a planet together and making them talk was going to be my first step in getting them there ;)
I’m sorry, but why aren’t you writing this?
*G* I honestly can’t imagine anyone would want to see Hux and Leia shouting at each other about economic ethics while struggling to light a campfire. (Particularly when they’d probably not even be amusingly inept at that, because Hux must have run a survivalist simulation or two and Leia was trained by Ewoks.)
But then when I add in things like Finn being there to tell Hux some home truths about why being a stormtrooper sucks, and Rey being there to tell Leia that starvation level indentured wage slavery also sucks and can’t exactly be called freedom, it starts getting long. And then I also add Kylo Ren being there so they can address the whole ‘you know what, mum, being Ben sucked so much I ran off to join Hux’ issue then it starts looking like it would be a monster and I get intimidated and decide I don’t have the time even to start.
I did write the bit I really couldn’t live without writing - which was Hux telling (someone) what it was like being a very young child who’s just had their whole world taken away and been forced into exile and privation. Why he has that genuine rabid hatred of the Republic. That was like the core of it, so I just took that out and wrote it on its own in Confessional
IDK why, but something about Hux just says to me ‘this guy is familiar with starvation.’ I bet he and Rey could bond over that.
I want to read this though! Like, so much!!!!
Maybe they’re both kidnapped by a third party somehow! Surely this could happen!
