Letting out a garment by changing the zipper:
Thanks for sharing this idea. That’s indeed a good way to gain some space. Sewing invisible zippers involves seam allowance, so that’s extra fabric you could potentially let out https://wastelesscrafts.tumblr.com/post/659239751078051840/upsizing-clothes-there-are-a-million-upcycling. On top of that, visible zippers are indeed wider than invisible ones which can help, too.
If anyone wants to try this out but is worried about how it’ll look: there are ways to make a zipper part of your garment’s design. For example, using a zipper in a contrasting colour can be a real eye catcher, as mentioned.
You could use a fancy zipper with lace edges or rhinestones. [image: A collection of zippers with lace edges in different colours.]

Or you could spruce up a regular zipper with embroidery https://href.li/?http://seecherylsew.blogspot.com/2012/07/zippers-creatively-embellished-with.html?view=flipcard, lace https://href.li/?https://www.beadinggem.com/2009/12/how-to-make-zipper-jewelry-tutorials.html, beads or spikes https://href.li/?https://www.pinterest.com/pin/338966309460908632/, ruffles https://href.li/?https://saranaave.wordpress.com/2016/03/13/ruffle-zipper-tutorial/, or by hanging a charm on your slider. Be creative! As long as your alterations don’t interfere with the functioning of your zipper, there’s a lot of fun things to be done with closures like these. (Your picture was not posted)
