idk if this is a thing i’m glad the quarantine gave me, but. i have now successfully given a number of quite short haircuts in my life. i’d never used clippers before but now i’m pretty decent at holding a person’s ears out of the way to buzz off the hair so it doesn’t touch them.

i did my sister’s hair with the longest guard on top. that was really short. she likes it, but admits it’s a bit extreme. i borrowed her clippers this week, and cut dude’s hair in the driveway. He doesn’t want the top of his head that short, so I did the whole top of his head with scissors, and it started out looking like a bowl cut, but he kept shaking his head hard and then saying “too heavy here” and pointing to where there was too much hair left and i would cut more where he pointed, and in the end it looks kinda like it did when he went to a real barber.

I think hairdressers should be well paid for their jobs and I think we should go back to hairdressers, but I also think that dude looks decent like this, and if he doesn’t want to go to a hairdresser he shouldn’t have to. (I consistently underestimate how much he Does Not Like talking to people. It’s really uncomfortable for him.)

I also think I should buy my sister a longer guard for her clippers, so next time I can do her hair more like she likes. (Your picture was not posted)
