Somehow I have worked a ridiculous number of hours this week, and also have plowed through a fairly complete 11,000 word tale of two irredeemable war criminals and a tiny infant, so. I was kinda in a fugue state for a bit of that and need to shake some cobwebs out and like, eat something. Then I can tie it in to the rest of the shenanigans– I think I get the structure, we’ll encounter it indirectly and then this story will be a standalone companion piece I think– and then the Sparrow story can proceed with that as random background.

(It needs to be a standalone companion piece not just because it’s sort of… focused around two video-game-only Witcher 2 characters and people who want that are going to want that in sort of isolation from the rest of it sorta, but also because it’s kind of uh unexpectedly dark and intense in emotions and has a lot of shit in it about the war criminals part, it is really not the fluffy crack it sounded like it would be.)

(ALSO I am dying to write the scene where Geralt finds out what’s been going on but that one absolutely needs to tie in flawlessly to the structure of the larger series and there are too many moving parts of who’s where when to write it ahead and then try to bang it into the hole in the story where it’ll go, so I need to be patient, but just– we’re gonna get that Roche whose baby is that / Iorveth’s the father punchline with Yennefer cackling in the background, believe– that’s gonna be in the main storyline don’t worry)

I am hoping to push chapter 2 of Ciri’s Girlfriend https://archiveofourown.org/works/31289303 out tomorrow, I did a bunch of rewrites at bittylildragon’s behest (idk why tagging doesn’t work, sorry) and have let that sit and now am going to see if they make as much sense as I thought they did. there’s underpants in this chapter, brace yourselves! ok that makes it sound more exciting than it is, fear my leet marketing skills. The plot will start kicking in after another chapter and we’ll really see how it ties into the wider thing probably chapter 4 or so.

I don’t think I can do more than an update a week on this currently though, because even that is predicated on me getting most of chapter 3 polished this weekend because next week is a farm week and i don’t get to sit down during farm weeks really. so we’ll see.

anyway here is a tiny snippet that made me cackle to write it:
