we really can’t overstate how damaging it has been to indoctrinate the public with the idea that if they let themselves eat as much as they want, they’ll eat too much. human bodies, when permitted over the long term to eat as much as they want, actually get really, really good at calibrating their hunger and satiety, and will over time eat exactly the right amount for themselves. the common conception of a balanced eater as a minimal or restrained eater is absolutely wrong. balanced eaters eat quite a lot (compared to diet cultural ideas about right intake amounts), and they do so consistently and permanently. healthy, balanced eating isn’t some tightrope walk, it’s a gigantic net of total permission to eat. Thanks for the link! I am currently doing the scary thing of coming off a lifetime of diets and trying to discover this bodily homeostasis for myself. I'm terrified that I'm just going to get fatter and fatter until I can't move, and I've had to throw out my size 10 wardrobe already, so I would love very much for there to come a point where the weight stabilized - whatever it stabilized as. Food rewilding is a terrifying process when you desperately want to still be able to dance at the end of it!

It is difficult, and the only thing I can suggest is that to allay your fears about dancing at the end, the way to be sure of it is to dance throughout the process, because that way your body is used to being the size it is as it gradually changes. but it's easier said than done.

Definitely! Covid has interrupted that this year, but dancing is starting again now, and fortunately everyone is out of practice, so we're all starting back together tentatively, needing to be hardened up :)
