I did it! I overcame chicken microbes and got chapter 2 finished in time to post it today.
(I uh. Did not get to do my final pass of proofreading but I can hear the footsteps of someone very small and very busy coming to demand my attention so I gotta post this right now or never, so bear with me if there are any weird issues; I may uncharacteristically have to come back and fix a couple of little things later.)
Chapter 2 of Can’t Go Home This Way: Very Quiet And Very Cold.
Alternate title: Commander Vorb Dossalian of the New Republic Fleet’s Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day.
“Commander,” a comm orderly said breathlessly, “Commander, we’re being hailed, another vessel is approaching.”
“If it’s the fucking bounty hunters,” Dossalian said, pinching the bridge of xer nose.
“It’s not,” the comm orderly said, looking very nervous.
“Who is it, then,” Dossalian asked.
“It’s the Millennium Falcon,” the orderly said.
“What,” Dossalian said.
“And it’s piloted by Luke Skywalker,” the orderly went on.
Dossalian stared at her. “Pull the other one,” xe said.
Sure enough, though, it was in fact Luke Skywalker. And Chewbacca.
