i haven’t been posting much of my own nonfiction words lately. well, there’s not much to report.

Got my dad’s leatherworking supplies and the belt and buckle he’d bought me for Christmas, that arrived nearly a month after his death. There were two buckles, and I have a suspicion one of them must’ve been for some other project entirely, but– I don’t know what that project would be. Mom doesn’t know, so– nobody knows. Now I have it.

I’ve used the leather punch so far only to attempt to make a new bearing for my spinning wheel, which, like, I’m not sure I’ve done right, but. Well it’s trial and error. Sure. I don’t know how long it’ll take me to work up the nerve to attempt to assemble the belt– I have to google some things and, well, maybe i’m just not ready to do that.

I still suck at spinning. I’m working on it.

I mentioned that I finished the Untamed, I know. So now I have nothing to watch while on the exercise bike doing my Grudging Middle-Aged Lady If I Don’t Move My Body It Just Breaks Workouts. But today I watched a simply delightful video on tablet weaving https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooNOYUtc2ek&feature=youtu.be, which is not a hobby I need to take up buuuut might anyway. I don’t know this video maker at all, have never met her or anyone she knows, and yet I feel like I know half a dozen people with her character model, so it was terribly reassuring to listen to her and appreciate her sense of humor. (If you watch to the very end there is a lovely cameo from a cockatiel.)

I think I have finished writing the Keira/Lambert/Aiden story, and have only to do some minor edits before I can post the last couple of chapters. This is great because I’ve gotten my Fisstech & Succubi assignment so I need to get started on the Eskel Sequel. And in the midst of all that I’ve also been working on the Ciri Gets A Girlfriend story, which this morning I finally sort of nailed down additional details about her eventual husband (well, in canon he’s the next emperor, so), so that’s been entertaining.

This weekend I hope to eat popcorn, do laundry, get catsnuggles, and hopefully finally sew something on the new-to-me sewing machine Dude’s mom gave me and I then failed to be able to get to sew a single stitch over the course of several hours of trying over several weeks. It was threaded wrong, I thought I knew how to thread a machine and fucking don’t apparently. But now it works, so nothing will stop me, except well probably everything, just like usual.

Oh also it just occurred to me today, after I had done my Grudging Workout and then taken a shower and then was contemplating my outfit for the evening, that what I should have done over this fucking year of fucking isolation was invest in some really exquisite bespoke boutique lingerie / loungewear? I could be wandering around my house in something handcrafted with like, handsewn applique or something? this is the one time in my life i’d actually bother because it’s not like i can dress up to go out anywhere, right??? If you’re not going anywhere then you should have some beautiful loungewear, not this shitty old Torrid bralette from 2010 and some threadbare sweats!

anyway. if it looks like my lifestyle’s not going to change I should buy something like that. Let’s be real I won’t, but. The concept!! (Your picture was not posted)

In someone else's journal, I saw a link to this fabulous look for Getting One's Vaccine which struck me as having similar energy to exquisite bespoke loungewear.

I have to admit to basically living in my softest leggings and tshirts and throwing something smarter over the top for online meetings.
