I genuinely forgot the name of this story the other day when I was trying to discuss it. I was like… you know the one… Complicated Procedure or something… anyway.
I think I have actually finished the entire rough draft of this story, though the last like… 5k words… took me a solid month. So there’s not that much left. We’re on the downward slope. I still have to edit the rest. But here’s the next bit. And in my head I’m like “oh there’s hardly any left” but like. we still haven’t done the relationship negotations part… so anyway that’s where we are, here.
(Is it me or does it feel like a month since I posted the last chapter? I assure you it’s been four days, but it feels like a month. Time isn’t real, is it? Surely not. You made that up.)
Anyway Keira is in one piece, ostensibly, and this is entirely her POV, and it’s mostly Aiden and Lambert shenanigans. What’s not to love?
“It’d be a bit too pointed if that’s what Destiny did to make you stay in one place long enough for us to talk all our shit out,” Aiden said.
“Aiden,” Lambert said.
Aiden stared at him a moment, blinking as if offended. “Did you just–” He turned to Keira. “Did you hear him take that tone with me? Him? That tone? Me?”
“It’s too soon,” Lambert said, almost pleading. “You cannot– you cannot make impalement jokes, Aiden, it is too soon. For the love of Melitele, she’s still got the torn bloody clothing on, she hasn’t even washed her hands, you cannot make impalement jokes.”
“Too pointed, fuck,” Aiden said, and put his free hand over his eyes. “In my defense, it’s a reflex.”
Keira didn’t mean to laugh, but it snuck out in a kind of snort and she covered her face. “You just lost your I died free hits,” Lambert snarled.
“Fuck,” Aiden said mournfully, “I was going to milk that for years, too.”
“Too bad, pal,” Lambert said. (Your picture was not posted)
