ok my dude asked me about this, he saw it on twitter or something, and he was like “is that allowed on AO3?” and I was like well it’s not copyright infringement or anything but the point of AO3 is transformative works, and there are separate webpages devoted to posting out-of-copyright books, so it seems inappropriate to me to just– post a published but now out of copyright work on AO3.

It’s funny though, don’t get me wrong, and it is absolutely hilarious to contemplate how many of the world’s Formative Texts I haven’t read because they’re long and then you look and if that were a fic I wouldn’t even register the wordcount it’s so small. 11k is like a lunchbreak fic, really.
