Thank you for letting me know! And that’s exactly what I wanted to accomplish– from some of the notes on the post it’s obvious people think I have some grudge or something, but really, I don’t know the artist, I have no interest in knowing the artist, I don’t know what backstory there might be or anything, and it doesn’t matter. I’m not even judging the artist as a person, that’s not relevant– though tbh it’s hard not to when you reflect on the concrete damage that’s done by racist depictions like this– all the comments on that vk.com post http://web.archive.org/web/20210208152600/https://vk.com/wall-157099776_6137 with Triss dancing in fringed shawls and hoop earrings that were chuckling over her being a horse thief and stealing Roach, come on, Romani are being falsely accused of theft in many countries as we speak and are being denied basic human rights– this is ongoing, current harm, and it’s not cute or funny. This kind of “joke” is harmful.
I don’t like to contribute to harm being done, which depictions like that do. And I think it’s important to warn other people, because most of the people I care to associate with also don’t like to contribute to harm being done.
But there are people that like to hurt other people, for whatever reason, and most of them have found they have better success if they keep it plausibly-deniable, so it’s not always obvious.
This isn’t a question of morals or purity or wokeness or my feelings or the artist’s feelings, it’s about the harm that racism does, in the real world and in fandom, which is very much a part of the real world as well.
If there had been a question about the artist’s intent I would have done it differently, but there really wasn’t, so the only remaining avenue was to make sure other people knew. (Your picture was not posted)
